Upon your arrival at Indira Gandhi International Airport, you'll be warmly greeted and transferred to The Imperial. Delhi, the vibrant capital of India, beautifully blends ancient charm with modern sophistication. The city is divided into two distinct parts: Old Delhi, rich with historical allure, and New Delhi, the seat of the Indian government. Settle in and prepare for the adventure ahead.
Exploring Delhi
We'll begin our day exploring Old Delhi with a visit to Jama Masjid, one of India’s largest mosques, built by Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan. Marvel at its grand architecture, with its three gates, four towers, and two 40-meter-high minarets of red sandstone and white marble. Next, we will enjoy a rickshaw ride through the bustling lanes of Chandni Chowk. This market, established in the 17th century, is famous for its narrow winding lanes, historic mansions, and vibrant atmosphere.
In the afternoon, we'll head to New Delhi to the Humayun’s Tomb, a stunning example of Mughal architecture with Persian influences. This UNESCO World Heritage Site features beautiful gardens, water channels, and red sandstone structures. We'll visit the Qutub Minar, a 73-meter tall minaret built in 1193, showcasing exquisite Indo-Islamic Afghan architecture. We'll conclude our day with a visit to Gurudwara Bangla Sahib, a prominent Sikh gurdwara known for its beautiful golden dome and large holy pond (Sarovar). As we tour New Delhi, we'll also drive past the India Gate, a war memorial, and various government buildings that form the administrative heart of India.
