ITINERARY
Arrival - Kilimanjaro to Arusha
Welcome to East Africa! Our journey begins at Kilimanjaro International Airport.
Upon arrival, you’ll be met by a friendly representative and transferred by road to your hotel in Arusha. Here, you’ll meet Marlon, your Tanda Afrika guide and the rest of the group. We’ll enjoy a relaxed welcome dinner together – the perfect way to settle in and get excited about the adventure ahead.
DAY 1Arusha to Northern Serengeti
After breakfast, we’ll transfer to Arusha Airport for our scheduled charter flight to the Northern Serengeti. Upon arrival at Kogatende Airstrip, our local guide will be waiting to welcome us, and we’ll head straight out on a scenic game drive to the lodge.
There’ll be time to settle in, enjoy lunch, prepare your gear, and then head out for your very first Serengeti safari. After an exciting afternoon in the wild, we’ll return to the lodge to freshen up before gathering around the table for a shared dinner.
DAY 2Full Days in the Northern Serengeti
We’ll have three full days to explore the wonders of the Northern Serengeti. Each day begins early – coffee and light snacks are available before we head out at first light.
These first few days will focus on the Great Migration and the famous Mara River crossings. No two days on safari are ever the same, but the chances of witnessing this incredible spectacle increase with time and patience – and that’s exactly what we’ll allow for.
Mornings are also the best time to catch predators on the move. Lions, leopards, and cheetahs are often active in the cooler hours, and you’ll have great opportunities to photograph them in beautiful morning light.
As the day warms, we’ll follow the wildlife to the rivers and waterholes, where many species gather to drink – and sometimes to hunt.
To maximize our time in the field, we may pack lunch boxes and spend the full day out on game drive. The afternoons can bring wonderful sightings too, as animals become active again in the cooler light of early evening.
Each evening, we’ll return to camp to a crackling fire and a refreshing drink. There will be time to unwind, review your images, and chat with your Tanda Afrika photographic guide.
DAY 3-5Northern Serengeti to Entebbe, Uganda
After a final early morning game drive, we’ll head back to Kogatende Airstrip to board our flight to Entebbe, Uganda – the next exciting chapter of the journey.
Once we arrive, a local representative will greet us and transfer us to a peaceful and charming hotel to rest and reset. Tomorrow, we begin our gorilla trekking adventure!
DAY 6Entebbe to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest Park
After breakfast, we’ll transfer back to Entebbe Airport for a our flight to Kihihi Airstrip. From here, we’ll journey through scenic countryside to Buhoma Lodge, on the edge of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest Park.
Once settled in, there’s time to relax and enjoy a leisurely lunch. The afternoon is yours to rest, get your gear ready, and work with your Tanda Afrika guide on editing and reviewing your photos. The excitement will be building – tomorrow we meet the gorillas.
DAY 7Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest Park
These three days promise to be the highlight of your journey – spending time with one of the world’s most majestic creatures in their natural forest habitat.
We’ve secured three gorilla trekking permits per person, meaning we’ll have three private treks, completely exclusive to our group – a truly rare and special experience.
Each morning will begin with a briefing at the park headquarters before we head out with experienced trackers to locate a gorilla family. Once we find them, we’ll have one hour to observe and photograph these gentle giants – a powerful and humbling moment that will stay with you forever.
Trekking can be challenging, so it’s important to be prepared with suitable gear and clothing.
After each trek, we’ll return to camp for a delicious lunch and time to relax, edit your images, or enjoy a siesta. Optional activities like forest walks or community visits are also available for those wanting to explore further.
